Medical Staff Administrative Assistant Full Time

Department: 843 - Medical Staff Services
Location: Phenix City, AL

Shift: 8:00AM - 5:00PM ET

Position Goal

Organizes the coordination of medical staff support services to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of the Hospital, as well as meeting the requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission Standards, and other applicable federal and state regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Organizes the coordination of medical staff services.
  • Serves as a resource to the Medical Staff Officers/Committees and Department Chairmen charged with the responsibility of carrying out the functions delegated to the Medical Staff.
  • Counsels and orients Medical Staff Officers and Department Chairpersons regarding required duties to help them consistently perform their duties.
  • Responsible for effective communication among Medical Staff, Administration, Nursing              Staff, and other hospital personnel.
  • Maintains Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
  • Liaison to System Credentialing office and assists with coordination of the Medical Staff credentialing process.
  • Schedules and coordinates Medical Staff meetings in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations.  Attends meetings and maintains documentation of minutes and assures follow-up as appropriate.
  • Remains abreast of Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission Medical Staff standards, accrediting bodies, and state and federal requirements.
  • Creates and disseminates quarterly Medical Staff newsletter.

Experience: 2-3 years administrative assistant experience in medical facility required

Education: Associates Degree or 2 years of related work experience in lieu of Associates. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Special Qualifications: Must be proficient in MS Office Suite. Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
